How Corn Changed Itself and Then Changed Everything Else

Road Scholar speaker, from the Illinois Humanities, Cynthia Clampitt, came to the library on 9/24 and gave a wonderful presentation about a common crop we all know by telling stories, antidotes, and bits of trivia on how it change early America and the Midwest into something new. Some peopleĀ  might consider corn a mundane topic, but Cynthia was able to make it interesting and exciting.

The hour long presentation fascinated the audience with information that without corn we wouldn’t have the Chicago Bears or even Chicago, Fritos, whiskey and maybe even vampires without corn.

This presentation was made possible by a grant from the Illinois Humanities.
